The Best of Our Winter Travel Content

Every year, when the weather starts to turn chilly in our corner of the world, we find that the content we produce for clients at World Words begins to take on a distinctly seasonal slant. All of a sudden, the travel content agenda is dominated by all things wintery, from celebrations like Christmas and New Year, to activities like winter sports.

Our winter travel content is for everyone to enjoy. Disappointed you’re not cosied up in a chalet by a roaring log fire? Read about our Alpine adventures in St. Moritz and pretend you are. Rather have some winter sun? Read our guide on the Greek Islands and all the advent adventures they have to offer. Or maybe you’d rather forego winter altogether and enjoy another (even hotter) summer. Read our feature on Australia and its weird, wonderful wildlife.

You’ll find extracts from a selection of our favourite winter pieces below, so scroll down to read a little of each…

High School Language Student Travel Itineraries for Educational Journeys

At World Words, we do all kinds of travel content writing, from web copy to destination guides, magazine articles to blog posts. But one of our favourite kinds of travel content to write is tour itineraries, as it gives us a chance to use a combination of our destination expertise, travel nous and research skills to do a deep-dive on destinations.

So when we were approached by the learning-focused travel agency Educational Journeys earlier this year, we were delighted. They wanted us to write a series of travel itineraries for Australian high school students. While the educational focus of the itineraries could vary from history to languages, they all required passionate and inspiring content that would appeal to teachers, parents and students alike. This was just the kind of challenge we relish.

Scroll forward to December 2019, and we have completed dozens of itineraries for Educational Journeys already, with more to come next year. For a taste of the work we are doing, scroll down for extracts from three itineraries…

Our Travels: Western Crete, Greece

As you read this, we guarantee that at least some members of the World Words team are travelling. Whether it’s a city break, a beach holiday, a mountain excursion or a rainforest trek, you can’t keep our writers off the road. This wanderlust, coupled with a talent for putting it down in words, is why we specialise in high quality travel content.

We’ve shared many travel tales in this series of blogs, which we call Our Travels. From Joe’s jaunts in Estonia to Allison’s adventures in Bangkok, you’ll find the team’s many dispatches from all over the world in the OT archive.

This month, it’s the turn of our regular staff content writer, Nathanael. Having recently married (congratulations!), Nathanael and his wife Natalie needed to pick a suitable spot for their honeymoon. In the end, they decided to visit Western Crete, a land of monasteries, mountains and mezedes. Scroll down to read his account of the trip…

From Budapest to The Bahamas: Travel Guide Content for TravelSupermarket

At World Words, we’re often asked to write destination guides for our clients. No wonder – travel guide content is the ideal way for a travel brand to share its expertise, while also communicating its unique personality and tone of voice. It can also do wonders for a brand’s SEO, boosting its search engine rankings in relation to key destinations and services, and ultimately delivering more potential customers to its website. And when it comes to travel guide writing, there’s nobody with as much content experience and as much local destination expertise as World Words.

In early 2017, we were approached by online travel comparison company TravelSupermarket. They were looking for a series of 3,500- to 4,500-word travel guides on popular destinations across Europe and beyond, from short city breaks to long island escapes. With our team of writers based all around the world, World Words was able to offer the on-the-ground insight they wanted, so over the next few months we wrote 30 different guides for them.

We’ve included extracts and links for six of our fave TravelSupermarket guides below. Scroll down to read them…
