Our Travels: São Miguel, The Azores

If there’s one thing that World Words writers and editors enjoy doing even more than travelling, it’s writing about travelling. Lucky, really, considering that’s our job. But for every trip that’s undertaken for a commission – whether it’s an article or blog post, a travel itinerary, or a client’s website content – there are also the moments we decide to down tools and head out on the open road for our own personal pleasure. That’s where Our Travels comes in.

This blog series allows our team to share some of their recent, personal travel adventures. In the past, they have written about everywhere from Corsica to Canada, Crete to the Cayman Islands, and this time it’s the turn of our intrepid editor-in-chef Joe and his recent Christmas trip to São Miguel in the Azores. Spring has Sprung: The Highlights from Our Spring Content Archives – Part One

Look outside. The days are getting longer. Daffodils are poking their yellow heads up through the dirt. Cadbury Creme Eggs have come and gone from our lives. And all this can only mean one thing: spring is finally upon us.

We are celebrating the new season with some of our best spring-themed content. Bid farewell to winter’s hearty comfort food and choose lighter fare instead, with our selection of the world’s finest seafood restaurants. Spring is also the season for festivals, with Songkran (aka Thai New Year) a springtime favourite – you can find a chic place to stay with our run-down of Thailand’s greatest luxury design hotels. With the weather getting better, why not also discover some new places – we’ve added a guide on Moscow and copy for a hotel on the Algarve. And the days may be getting longer, but there’s still pitch black night skies to enjoy, so we have included a piece on stargazing.

Our Travels: Lisbon, Portugal

Here at World Words, it’s not just writing about travel that gets our pulses racing – we’re pretty keen on actually travelling, as well. At least one of us is always on the go, exploring a new (to us) and exciting corner of the globe.

As travel writers, we love to share our adventures with the wider world, which is what this Our Travels blog series is all about. We’ve covered plenty of places already, from Tallinn in Estonia to Vancouver Island in Canada to the Finger Lakes in the United States. And those are just a few of our most recent posts – here’s the full OT archive.

This month, our intrepid staff content editor Eilidh shares the highlights from her recent summer trip to the pretty Portuguese capital of Lisbon. For Eilidh, it’s a city that benefits from repeat visits. Scroll on down to find out why…
