Spring Has Sprung: The Highlights from Our Spring Content Archives – Part Two

Last month, on this blog, we shared some of the very finest spring-themed content written by the World Words team. But it turns out that we couldn’t do ourselves justice with just one blog. So now we’re back with another!

As anyone of the pedalling persuasion knows, spring is prime cycling season, so we’ve dug up two articles from the archives on the topic: the first, a cycling itinerary guide and the second, a blog post on urban cycling events. If you favour two feet over two wheels, we’ve got an article on the world’s best long-distance hiking trails too. And if all that seems a little too active for your tastes, never fear; we have also got some more laid-back outdoor fun on offer in the form of a guide to London’s best parks. Last but by no means least, we’ve included a travel guide we wrote to the Isle of Skye. Although this Scottish isle is beautiful at any time of the year, we think it peaks in spring when the wildflowers are in full bloom and the puffins finally show their faces. Spring has Sprung: The Highlights from Our Spring Content Archives – Part One

Look outside. The days are getting longer. Daffodils are poking their yellow heads up through the dirt. Cadbury Creme Eggs have come and gone from our lives. And all this can only mean one thing: spring is finally upon us.

We are celebrating the new season with some of our best spring-themed content. Bid farewell to winter’s hearty comfort food and choose lighter fare instead, with our selection of the world’s finest seafood restaurants. Spring is also the season for festivals, with Songkran (aka Thai New Year) a springtime favourite – you can find a chic place to stay with our run-down of Thailand’s greatest luxury design hotels. With the weather getting better, why not also discover some new places – we’ve added a guide on Moscow and copy for a hotel on the Algarve. And the days may be getting longer, but there’s still pitch black night skies to enjoy, so we have included a piece on stargazing.

Scroll down to read extracts from all of these travel pieces, with links to the full content…

A Flying Safari over Nambia or an Easter Island Cruise? Our Web Copy for Pantiel

At World Words, we regularly create website copy for a number of large multinational travel brands, from Expedia to TravelSupermarket. But we are also proud to offer our professional web copywriting services to a number of smaller, independent companies, from hotel booking agents to travel agencies, PR companies to travel bloggers.

During the summer, we were approached by the private luxury travel agency Pantiel for a new web copy project, and we were delighted to help. They were looking for a series of sample journeys to add to their website – while their trips are painstakingly tailored to their customers, they wanted some example trips to show what’s possible.

Over the course of the summer, we wrote more than 35 sample journeys – and we thought we’d share a few of them here. From a Dubai shopping trip to an Arctic adventure, here are snippets from six of our favourite trips…

Edinburgh Castle to Loch Ness: Writing and Editing Fodor’s Essential Scotland

We love Scotland. Whether its the country’s storied castles, craggy peaks, sublime seafood, iconic golf courses or peat-kissed whisky, there really is something for everyone. It is a small country with an enormous amount to offer.

So when World Words was asked by Fodor’s to help update their Essential Scotland guidebook, we leapt at the opportunity. We know Scotland exceptionally well, with many writers either current or ex-residents, so we knew we had the destination knowledge to do Scotland justice. We were asked to update three chapters: ‘Edinburgh and the Lothians’, ‘Inverness and Around the Great Glen’, and ‘The Northern Highlands and the Western Isles’.

The job involved travelling the length and breadth of each region, seeing every previously-listed tourist attraction, restaurant, bar and shop, and uncovering incredible new places to recommend. It was a gargantuan task. But after many months on the road and at the computer, our work was complete. The guidebook was published this spring.

We have included snippets from the chapters we updated below, so scroll down for a taste of Essential Scotland…
