Washington to the Isle of Skye: An Entire World of Destination Guides for Expedia

As regular readers of the blog will know, we write a lot of destination guides for Expedia. And we mean A LOT. We have written about all four corners of the globe for this leading online travel company, whether it is Genoa in Italy or St Louis, Missouri in the US. In fact, just take a look through this project list for Expedia and you will find dozens of travel guides stretching back more than three-and-a-half years. And those guides are just the tip of the iceberg.

However, it’s been a while since our last set of guides for Expedia, so we are delighted to reveal that a whole new batch have just been published. These are spread far and wide, from tiny Scottish islands to vast American states. We’ve included extracts from three of these recently-published travel guides below, so scroll down to take a look.

WESTERN NICARAGUA

One of the most visited areas in the country, this region encompasses unspoiled Pacific beaches, the vast Lake Nicaragua and fascinating volcanic landscapes.

Nicaragua’s western side is home to a cluster of hot spots such as Lake Nicaragua and the beach town of San Juan del Sur. But there’s also plenty for those seeking an adventure off the beaten path. Find remote spots on the region’s pristine and varied coastline or explore the volcanic terrain to the north.

Hot and hectic Managua is the capital and the largest city, and your gateway to the country. Located inland, in the populous capital region, it sits between the charming towns of Leon and Granada. From Managua, begin your journey out to the nature reserves of Montibelli and Chocoyero-El Brujo or beaches like Pochomil.

ISLE OF SKYE, SCOTLAND

From mist-shrouded mountain peaks to plunging sea cliffs and moss-carpeted valleys, this windswept Scottish island is a place of wild, rugged beauty.

Despite its popularity, the Isle of Skye manages to retain a remote, away-from-it-all feeling. Relish the quietude on uncrowded hiking trails, explore evocative castle ruins and marvel at the dramatic coastline from a kayak. Come evening, feast on fresh seafood and retreat to a cozy pub for a warming dram of Scotch whisky.

The Norse called this place “sky-a” (cloud island), referencing the mysterious mist that seems to stubbornly cling to the peaks of the Black Cuillin. Admire the jagged mountains from afar or tackle the climbing trails. Most climbing routes here are not for the inexperienced; be prepared to scramble up scree and traverse narrow ridges.
