Our Travels: Tokyo and Honshu, Japan

As you’ve probably realised, the team at World Words likes to travel. It is rare a week goes by without one of our writers or editors jetting off for an adventure. And it’s not just that we like to travel; we also like to share our travel experiences with anybody who might care to read them. It’s the reason we began this Our Travels blog series, in which our team members recount their tales of mini-breaks, short vacations and vast road trips, both near and far.

Since we began the series last year, we’ve recounted trips to such varied destinations as Dubai, Girona, Iceland and the Isle of Harris. Now, it’s the turn of our senior content editor Mandy, who recalls a two-week trip to Japan.

Startling Architecture, Slap Up Seafood – Two New Blogs for From the Grapevine

Since September 2014, World Words’ esteemed content editor Mandy has been regularly contributing blog posts to the Israel-American publication From the Grapevine. You will probably have seen some of her work pop up on this blog before, from this article about amazing vineyard resorts around the world to this profile piece of concert master David Radzynski. You may also have seen new From the Grapevine projects pop up on our portfolio page.

Well, we’re still going strong, and this month we’ve several new articles being published on the site. Two of them, which touch on the diverse topics of unusual residential architecture and amazing global seafood restaurants, are already live, so we’ve included snippets of each below. Scroll down to read the extracts or link to the full articles.

Inspiring Iceland: A Photography Tour Itinerary Written for Photo Xpeditions

Our team at World Words are regularly enlisted to write tempting travel itineraries for an array of tour providers. One such client is PhotoXpeditions, who run photography workshops, taking participants out to incredible destinations all over the world to hone their photographic skills under the guidance of a photographic pro. We’ve completed quite a few enticing tour itineraries for Photo Xpeditions in the past, writing about photography-focused tours of places such as Japan and Myanmar.

Among the recently published itineraries produced by our expert travel writers was this ‘Inspiring Iceland’ photography workshop. With its raw and dramatic landscapes, hot springs and cool cities, Iceland has endless lens fodder. Plus, it’s one of the main filming locations for the incredibly popular ‘Game of Thrones’ TV series – few destinations are more in vogue among travellers right now. So Photo Xpeditions asked us to take a look at their existing itinerary, tidy up what was already there and add lots more interesting information off our own back.

We’ve published an excerpt from the itinerary below to give you a taster of what the tour will include.

Getting to Know Genoa, Italy: A City Destination Travel Guide for Expedia

Our team at World Words regularly write and edit travel guides for the leading online travel company Expedia. In fact, we create more Expedia travel guides than we can possibly list here (for example, just since the start of April, we’ve produced city and regional guides on the Netherlands, the USA, India, England, Japan and the Bahamas).

We might not be able to show them all, but we have picked out one of our recently-published destination guides. This month, our guide to Genoa, the capital of Liguria in northwestern Italy, was published on Expedia’s website. And to give you a taste of what you can expect in this stunning seaside city, we’ve included the overview below.
